What is the National Justice & Peace Network (NJPN) Conference?
It is an annual conference for Catholics committed to working for social justice.
It takes place between teatime on Friday 23 July to lunchtime on Sunday 25 July.
The theme is “Action for Life on Earth“.
Climate changes, the destruction of biodiversity and, now, the Covid pandemic make action imperative. Decisions to be made this year at Climate Conference in Glasgow are critical for salvaging a viable future. This is a year of opportunity the like of which we will never see again.
The person chairing the conference is Christine Allen – the Director of CAFOD and there will be the opportunity to listen to some keynote speakers and join a range of workshops over the course of the weekend.
What Sponsorship are we offering?
The full cost of a conference place in en-suite accommodation with all meals is around £200. As part of the SPARK Project, the Commission has funding to pay the full conference fee for ten people aged 18-30.
The conference takes place at the Christian Conference Centre, Swanwick, in Derbyshire.
We will confirm travel arrangements at a later date.
Eligibility
To be eligible for sponsorship you must be:
Living within the boundaries of the Diocese of Leeds
Aged between 18 – 30
Agree to the sponsorship conditions and fill out the application form
(If you are over 30 we are offering part sponsorship to attend – simply email jandp@dioceseofleeds.org.uk if you are interested in being supported to attend)
The Diocese of Leeds Justice & Peace Commission reserves the right to reject applications for any reason.
What do I have to do if I obtain a place?
We ask that, as a condition of accepting sponsorship, you agree to:
Write up a report (around 400 words) about the parts of the conference that had most impact on you
OR
Record a phone video describing the parts of the conference that had most impact on you (around 3 mins of video minimum)
In either case you must give us permission to use the written or video material on digital and other media.

We will only use this data for the purposes of evaluating applications for sponsorship and we will not share the data with anyone outside of the J&P Commission and we will remove the information from our files subsequent to the conference.
