"Working for peace and justice is central to the mission of the Church" Cardinal Basil Hume

Leeds Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission seeks to be a visible sign for Justice and Peace in the Diocese and the wider community. Its work is based on Gospel Values and Catholic Social Teaching.

Leeds Justice and Peace Commission seeks to identify and raise awareness of injustice and their root causes wherever in the world, whether they occur locally or in the wider world, in order to foster and encourage social analysis and action for change.

As Christians we believe in the dignity of human beings and the rights of people to live in peace.  Some of the many issues which we are involved in include:

Asylum Seekers

Racial Justice

Prisons and Community Chaplaincy

Ecology

Poverty in the UK

Peace and Non-violence

Migrant Workers (Polish newsletter)
