About this Event

The lecture will consider the threats to our planetary future posed by population, resource depletion, loss of biodiversity and climate change and argue that these should form a central part of the Church’s witness and ministry.

Professor Tim Gorringe… served in parishes in Leeds and Oxford before going to teach theology in India. From 1986 he was Fellow and Tutor in Theology at St John’s College, Oxford, Reader in Contextual Theology at St Andrews University, and then Professor of Theological Studies at Exeter University until 2014. Gorringe has published more than 20 books, most recently The World Made Otherwise : Sustaining Humanity in a Threatened World (Cascade 2018). Living on the edge of Dartmoor and, with his wife Gill, they run a smallholding with sheep, bees, poultry and fruit and vegetables, as well as writing and helping with the local Team Ministry.
