SUMMARY:Re: Imagine Migration
DESCRIPTION:In a world shaped by migration and contested borders\, what does it truly mean to belong… together? \nOn Thursday 25th June starting at 7:30pm\, Bradford Cathedral will host Re:Imagine Migration\, an open and thoughtful conversation about one of the defining issues of our time. In a city shaped by many journeys\, we will explore what migration means: not only politically\, but socially\, culturally\, and personally. \nOur main contributor will be Krish Kandiah OBE\, a social entrepreneur\, author\, and broadcaster who has worked extensively with refugees\, government\, charities\, and faith communities. Drawing on years of practical experience supporting displaced people and advising on integration\, he brings both insight and realism to a debate that is often more heated than heard. \nThrough conversation and shared reflection\, we will consider questions that affect us all: How do communities hold together amid rapid change? What responsibilities accompany hospitality? How can public policy balance compassion\, cohesion\, and fairness? And how might Bradford model a confident\, constructive way forward? \nThis is not a rally or a slogan-driven event. It is a space for listening across difference and for robust but respectful dialogue. Whatever your starting point\, you are warmly invited to join us as we reimagine belonging in a complex and interconnected world.

SUMMARY:The Climate Coalition: Show the Love
DESCRIPTION:The Climate Coalition write: \nYour first action for the year ahead \nThis year\, we’re inviting you to take a small but powerful step: send a green heart to your local politician\, sharing what’s at the heart of the future you want to protect. Because climate and nature action is at the heart of stronger communities\, better livelihoods\, and a secure future for the next generation. \nWe’ll share everything you need to take part soon. For now\, please save the date so we can start to build this UK-wide wave of love and action. \nCheck their website to see if more information is available \nClimate Coalition website\nSending a green heart might feel simple\, but it’s part of how we start the conversations that can help shape our shared future. It tells local leaders what’s at the heart of your community – pride\, care\, connection\, and a desire to pass on something better to the next generation. \nAnd it’s the first step in a bigger year of action ahead. By starting with a visible act of care in February\, we build early momentum\, show politicians that people are paying attention\, and create the foundation for the moments to come this year and beyond. Each action builds on the last\, and your green heart is where that collective journey begins.

SUMMARY:Shining a Light on Racism in England
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is being organised by NJPN (The National Justice & Peace Network). \nWhy this webinar?\nRacism in England remains a real and ongoing injustice.\nDespite strong equality laws\, evidence shows that racism continues to shape lives through:\n• Racially motivated hate crime\n• Discrimination in employment\, education\, housing\, and healthcare\n• Disproportionate policing and criminal justice outcomes\n• Hostility linked to migration debates and global events\nRacism today is often subtle\, denied\, or minimised — but its impact is real.\nThis webinar creates space to name the reality of racism\, reflect on its roots and consequences\, and explore how we can act together for justice. \nGuest Speakers: \nDr. Beverley Prevatt Goldstein.\n Dr. Beverley Prevatt Goldstein is a distinguished academic\, community activist\, and pioneering advocate for racial equality in the North East of England. SUMMARY:There is Another Way - SPARK Film Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Once again\, SPARK Social Justice are sponsoring one of the films in the Leeds Palestinian Film Festival. \nThis year the film\, chosen by the Leeds Diocese Pax Christi group\, is called “There is Another Way”. \nIn the midst of darkness\, we discover who we truly are. There is Another Way tells the story of a group of visionaries who refuse to surrender to violence and injustice\, and in doing so show that another path is possible – for them\, for us\, and for all humanity. As we are all faced with essential questions about who we are\, will we choose collective liberation\, where the needs\, rights\, and safety of all are prioritized – in which our humanity comes first\, knowing that no one is free until everyone is free. \nCombatants for Peace\, nominated for two Nobel Peace Prizes\, is an extraordinary bi-national group of former enemy combatants – Israelis and Palestinians – working together during an ongoing armed conflict. Confronted with the devastation and escalating violence of October 7th and the war in Gaza\, the very core of the movement faces great challenges in showing that there is another way. The first question they must move past relates to their own beliefs…is this possible? \nBook a Ticket \n\nSPARK have been enabled to sponsor this film with financial support from the Sisters of Sion.
