SUMMARY:The Cross and the Olive Tree Book Tour event
DESCRIPTION:How do we keep Faith and Hope alive in a time of genocide? \nHow can we bear witness to suffering\, imagine a different world and move towards reconciliation in the face of destruction? \nThese are not abstract theological exercises – they are the urgent\, lived questions that the next generation of Palestinian theologians wrestle with in the book ‘The Cross and the Olive Tree’. This  meeting at Leeds Minster will explore the themes presented in this book. \nJohn S. Munayer\, is a Palestinian theologian from Jerusalem and holds degrees from London\, Edinburgh and Amsterdam. He will join this meeting online from Jerusalem. John is currently involved in interreligious activism and is the founder and editor of the Journal of Palestinian Christianity at the Bethlehem Bible College. He is a PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh. He brings deep scholarship and lived experience to conversations on faith\, justice\, and peace in the Palestinian context . \nProf Esther McIntosh is Professor of Feminist Theology and Ethics at York St John University. She will join the meeting in person. She is a trustee of Sabeel-Kairos and co-leads the Sabeel-Kairos Palestinian theology group which is currently hosting a book reading series on The Cross and the Olive Tree. \nReserve a free place

SUMMARY:CAFOD Harvest Fast Day
DESCRIPTION:Will your church community be supporting CAFOD’s Harvest Fast DAY this year? \nThis Family Fast Day\, CAFOD are sharing a story of their work from northern Zimbabwe\, where drought has left communities facing severe food and water shortages. Twelve-year-old Tayla told CAFOD  she often arrived at school hungry and tired after fetching water for her family. Without enough to eat and drink\, she struggled to concentrate and feared she would fall behind in her studies. \nBut thanks to the generosity of parishes across the country\, CAFOD’s local Caritas partners worked with Tayla’s school and community to build a solar-powered water system. Now the school has safe water for drinking and for growing vegetables\, meaning they can provide nutritious meals to the children all year round\, helping them to stay in education and develop their God-given talents.
