Abortion – a postscript to our July article

September 3, 2022
Contributed by: Joe Burns, Commission member
In case anyone got the wrong impression!

Last month we included an article about the Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision in the USA. Along with the rest of the Catholic Church, the Commission regards abortion as a moral wrong. As the Commission person responsible for oversight of the newsletter I didn’t think that needed re-stating – but at least one person misunderstood the article so my apologies to those who did not get a correct impression of the Commission’s view.

The main thrust of the article was to encourage dialogue about the issue. Not dialogue over whether abortion is right or wrong – but dialogue about the strategies that might actually lead to a reduction in the number of abortions in this country. I hope that clarifies the position.
